Purple Mukitake—also called Late Fall Oyster—is a cold-weather species that produces glossy, violet-brown caps with firm, elastic flesh. Its flavor is mild and slightly earthy, complementing rich broths and roasted dishes. Known for its resilience, Mukitake fruits late into autumn when most species have finished, making it a valuable off-season crop.
